Patrons with mobility impairments or Deaf/Hard of Hearing patrons can request an accessibility wristband at the Access Center. This wristband is to show Festival staff that the patron plus one companion is eligible to enter the accessible viewing areas or the Deaf and Hard of Hearing areas. The accessibility wristband is non-transferable.
Note: The wristband does not guarantee a spot in these areas. Please note that both viewing areas have a limited capacity and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. We cannot save or reserve seats or areas on the platform. Once it’s determined that an accessible viewing area is filled to capacity (including adequate aisle space for entering and exiting the area), the area will not be available for additional entry.
Signage will be placed at the Festival identifying all viewing areas for patrons with mobility limitations and patrons who are Deaf / Hard of Hearing. Accessible Viewing Areas are marked with the International Symbol of Access on the Festival Map. To see the designated accessible viewing locations, please visit the Access Center for a map of the Festival grounds, visit the map on the official Festival website, or the map on the official Festival app.
5. Patrons with Mobility Limitations
The Festival is wheelchair accessible but is a large venue with great distances between activities and attractions. It is outdoors and is held on grassy and sandy terrain along with cement pathways throughout. There are accessible routes connected throughout the venue. Some travel is over natural terrain and terrain designed for motor vehicles. If it should rain, there could be mud.
The Festival does not provide personal care, golf cart rides, or push service of any kind or wheelchairs for rent or loan. Wheelchairs, power wheelchairs, and three or four-wheeled scooters are allowed only for use by patrons with mobility disabilities. For safety reasons, requests to use other power-driven mobility devices will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Powered wheelchairs may also be charged at the Access Center. Patrons should bring all cords and accessories needed to charge their devices. Chargers must use a 110-volt, 20-amp circuit.
Accessible portable toilets are available at the ends of each bank of portable toilets throughout the Festival venue.

CULTURAL RESPECT & LAWS IN EGYPT
Local laws reflect the fact that Egypt is predominantly an Islamic country. Dress and behave modestly when in Egypt. Drinking alcohol anywhere other than a licensed restaurant / bar is not allowed and can lead to arrest.
Possession, use or trafficking in illegal drugs is a serious offense and can, even for small amounts, lead to lengthy prison sentences (25 years), life imprisonment or the death penalty. Be smart, be safe, be respectful. Do not bring knives or weapons into Egypt.
Egypt unfortunately operates with homophobic policies and laws. For example: Rainbow flags, attire, or accessories can lead to unwanted trouble. Please be thoughtful of this.
Publicizing negative opinions about Egypt / Egypt politics, including about the President or security forces, can cause trouble with the authorities. In some cases, derogatory comments on social media have led to custodial sentences. Professional photography or film equipment of any kind will require a permit. The import, production or use of drones is banned in Egypt without prior authorization. Use or import drones without the authorization will be punished by prison terms ranging from one to 7 years.
HEALTH DETAILS
STAYING HEALTHY DURING YOUR TRAVELS
There are a few ways you can keep yourself, and others, safe. These include:
- Wearing a mask in transit, on planes and in public spaces where social distancing cannot be maintained
- Wash and/or sanitize your hands frequently
- Minimize use of public transport while in transit
- Avoid tap water in Egypt.
HEALTH
We recommend reviewing the Health Information for Travelers to Egypt via the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It’s best to be prepared to prevent and treat common illnesses and injuries.
We recommend that you bring a small first aid kit as well as any personal medical requirements. Please ensure that you are adequately prepared.
THE BASICS
WEATHER
Egypt weather in October has highs of 28°C and lows of 18°C, with an average of 23°C. Because Egypt is a desert, most of the items on your packing list will be for warm, dry weather. Because the sun can be very strong, sunscreen and a hat are essential. Finally, keep in mind that this is a Muslim country, so you must always respect their conservative values.
SAFETY
You are subject to local laws. If you violate local laws, even unknowingly, you may be expelled, arrested, or imprisoned. Your U.S. passport will not help you avoid arrest or prosecution. Furthermore, some crimes are also prosecutable in the U.S., regardless of local law. If you are arrested or detained, ask police or prison officials to notify the U.S. Embassy immediately.
TRAVEL INSURANCE
We strongly recommend that you purchase a policy that covers personal liability, cancellation, curtailment, loss of luggage, and personal effects. You can learn more about travel insurance options online. Information from our preferred providers can be reviewed or purchased online: Travel Insurance
WHAT TO PACK
CLOTHES
To respect Egypt's conservative values, it's important to avoid revealing clothing such as short tops, skirts, shorts, or tight clothes when away from tourist areas. Long-sleeved shirts or t-shirts made from natural fibers, with long pants or skirts / dresses are best. Loose clothing is recommended to keep you cool and avoid unwanted attention. Carrying a scarf or wrap is helpful when you need to cover up. Also, bring a jacket as evening temperatures can get cold—think desert climates. Be comfortable, be respectful.
EASY WALKING SHOES
For comfortable exploration, bring flat shoes, preferably closed-in due to the dusty streets.
OUTINGS PACK
For essential documents and accessories.
INSECT REPELLANT
Egypt can be buggy, especially in the cities. Packing / using insect repellent is still recommended!
TRAVEL ADAPTER PLUG
Only if your devices are not designed for the local voltage (220V).
HAT AND SUNGLASSES
Think desert (a la Playa wear) to protect yourself from the heat and the sun—it can be blinding on most days, especially in the desert.
MEDICINE
Make sure to pack your prescribed medicine when traveling to Egypt, as it may not be available there. It's also a good idea to bring some Imodium or a similar anti-diarrheic medication to avoid Tut's Trot. While non-prescribed medications are available in Egypt, it's still recommended to bring your regular medication to avoid any confusion.
MISC
You got this! Water bottle, passport, ID, check? Sunscreen, chapstick, tooth brush, check? The boats have concierge service, but please plan to be self reliant for our 10 days, no Amazon Prime deliveries this trip.
Consider leaving space or an extra bag for traveling home with gifts, shopping! Finally, remember we are in Egypt. Things may get dusty. Plans may shift. 5-star service may not match last summer's vacation... But we've all chosen this magical land for a reason. Bring open hearts, strong spirits, come well rested—we will take care of most the rest.
